About Syndicate
Syndicate (1993), developed by Bullfrog Productions and published by Electronic Arts, is an isometric real-time strategy game set in a dark cyberpunk future. You control a megacorporation commanding teams of cybernetically enhanced agents on missions to expand your syndicate’s territory across the globe.
The game is notable for its morally ambiguous premise — you’re unambiguously the corporate villain, using mind-control chips to pacify civilians and eliminating rival executives. Beneath the grim premise is a brilliantly designed tactical game with a compelling research system.
Gameplay
Each mission takes place in a miniature city rendered in isometric 3D. You direct four agents simultaneously, equipping them with weapons ranging from pistols to miniguns, and completing objectives that typically involve assassination, rescue, or territory control. Innocent bystanders caught in the crossfire simply add to the chaos.
Between missions, you research new cybernetic upgrades for your agents — better legs for speed, improved weapons links for accuracy — and invest in new territories to fund further expansion. The world map grows increasingly contested as rival syndicates push back against your advances.

How to Run Syndicate with DOSBox

Syndicate’s vision of a corporate-controlled dystopia feels disturbingly prescient today. Bullfrog packed the game with dark humor and genuine tactical depth, creating a world that rewards both strategic planning and improvised violence.
