Fast, loud, and relentlessly fun, Kiloblaster is Epic MegaGames’ take on the vertical scrolling shooter — a genre dominated by Japanese arcades that Epic brought to DOS with real style in 1992. The full game is now freeware.
About Kiloblaster

Developed and published by Epic MegaGames in 1992, Kiloblaster is a fast-paced vertical space shooter in the tradition of Galaga and Raiden. You pilot a lone fighter through three episodes of increasingly intense alien assault, collecting weapons and destroying everything that moves.
Gameplay
Kiloblaster moves at a genuinely fast pace for a DOS game. Your ship can collect power-ups that upgrade your weapons from a basic cannon to a spread shot, laser, and homing missiles. Enemy formations range from simple attack patterns to complex waves that require anticipation and memorization to survive.
The difficulty escalates quickly. Episode 1 is accessible; by episode 3 you are in genuine bullet-hell territory by DOS standards.
Why It’s Worth Playing
Kiloblaster fills a specific niche: a quality DOS vertical shooter that plays more like an arcade cabinet than a slow PC game. For fans of the genre, it delivers exactly what it promises with no padding. Quick sessions make it perfect for short breaks, and the difficulty provides real replayability.
