Developed by id Software and originally sold exclusively through Apogee’s mail-order catalog in 1991, Aliens Ate My Babysitter (Commander Keen Episode 6) follows Billy as he pursues the Bloogs who have kidnapped his babysitter Molly. Set on the planet Fribbulus Xax, it uses the same engine as Goodbye Galaxy and shares that game’s smooth scrolling and colorful design.
id Software has released all Commander Keen episodes for free, making this long-exclusive chapter finally accessible to everyone.
Gameplay
Aliens Ate My Babysitter is a classic Commander Keen platformer. Billy navigates alien environments, jumping between platforms, stunning enemies with his Pogo Stick and Neural Stunner, and collecting items. The level design is creative and well-paced, with the familiar non-linear world map allowing players to choose their route to the final confrontation.
The enemy variety is excellent — Bloogs come in multiple types, and the alien planet environment gives the artists plenty of material for inventive level design.
Why It’s Worth Playing
Episode 6 is the rarest of the classic Keen games and deserves more attention than it receives.
